As the first half of our year draws to a close, we hope you’re hearing your children practicing their Holiday Concert music! Our first concert with our Beginning Band this year will take place on Tuesday. December 17th, at 7:00 PM. In preparation for this concert we will have two after school rehearsals. The first will be on Thursday, December 12th, and the second on Monday, December 16th. Both rehearsals will be from 4-5:30 PM at Lamar MS, and are graded events.
The concert will be in the Lamar Gymnasium. All Beginning Band students need to be seated for warm-up in the Lamar Gymnasium by 6:00 PM. This will require an arrival of approximately 5:45. Parents will not be allowed in the Gymnasium until 6:50. The concert will start at 7:00 PM and will last about 20 minutes.
For our Holiday Concert this year, the members of the Intermediate Band have graciously offered to perform as leaders and helpers with the 6th grade Beginning Band. In this process, the Intermediate Band will add the Beginning Band’s music to their daily practice, and perform with the Beginner’s on their Holiday Concert. Also, the Intermediate Band members will sit in on the two after school rehearsals, and assist in teaching the beginners proper rehearsal process and etiquette.
Students must wear their band polo shirt with black dress pants, dress shoes with black socks as stated in the Uniform Guidelines in the Band Handbook. No Tennis Shoes or Ankle Socks Please!!
